Maa Media Centre is an organization dedicated to promote Maasai culture and enhance life in general for the Maasai community through a wide variety of projects established by talented young Maasai men: Lekoko Piniel Ole Levilal (Furaha) and Fransis Ole Rikanga, under the expert guidance of a pioneer in management of Maasai culture from Arusha: Wilson Ole Siray.
Maasai is the correct spelling, Masai with one 'A' is incorrect. In the future please always spell Maasai with two AAs. The title Maasai derives from the word Maa, meaning ‘people’. Maa-sai means ‘My people’.
Who are the Maasai? Where did they come from? Thousands of years ago, a race known as “nilonic” made their home along the huge serpent called the Nile, in an area which today is known as Sudan. Tall and agile, they where part of a race of Negroes which lived on hunting and on what nature provided. The name Maasai is synonymous to a genuine and free Africa where men and animals share the boundless wilderness.
